Knitting Boot Camp

This year we are holding an intensive boot camp-style class that will help you understand the fundamentals of knitting in depth. You will gain more confidence in your skills, your ability to read your knitting, and choosing the perfect finishing techniques. In 8 sessions spanning 4 months we will cover:

Classes will be held every other week. You can come Thursdays 11 am - 1 pm or Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm, whichever fits your schedule best. Homework will be required in between classes.

February 1st or 3rd through May, $195
Optional wrap-up party on May 26th!
Includes a spiral-bound workbook.

Beginning Knitting 1

Learn all the basics of knitting in this 4 part class. First learn how to cast-on, knit, purl, and bind-off with a simple piece that will be used as part of a charity afghan. Then, go on to a project of your choice. By the time you're done, you'll have learned increases, decreases, and how to follow a pattern too!

This is a continuing knitting class that keeps you learning and working on a project of your choice. We will work at your speed to learn more techniques and use different tools. You'll be confident enough to try some advanced patterns because we will work right with you.

Learn how to knit entrelac patterns in the round with this colorful cowl. You will use 2 different color-changing yarns to make the project even more interesting to work through!

Socks: Toe Up

Learn to knit socks from the toe up! You can use two circular needles, the magic loop, or double point needles to work the sock. You can add a stitch pattern to the sock to customize it even further!

A Beaded Top Down Sweater

Top Down Sweater

Learn how to knit a perfectly fitting sweater by working it from the top down. You will be able to try the sweater on as you knit it and customize it to your taste. You can choose a cardigan or pullover and incorporate any stitch pattern you like. It is an easy first sweater project great for learning the basics of garment construction!

Top Down Baby Cardigan

Baby Cardigan: Top Down

Top down knitting is a quick way to make a sweater, and requires no seaming to finish it. You will learn this basic sweater construction and work through all the finishing techniques in this smaller project. This class will teach you how to make the perfect special gift for a new Spring baby!

Hearts and Arrows Cowl: Fair Isle in the Round

Fair Isle colorwork is traditionally worked in the round, and it is put to great use in this beautiful cowl. Each side will have a different pattern, which will keep you inspired through to Valentine's Day! You'll learn how to follow colorwork charts, work Fair Isle in the round, and how to finish your piece with the kitchener stitch.

Raha Scarf: Estonian Lace Knitting

Raha means "money" in Estonian, so this is a great project to start at the beginning of the New Year! It is also a great introduction to Estonian Lace so you will be prepared for your next lace adventure. You must have a basic understanding of increases and decreases for this class.

This cowl is a great transitional piece, as it can be worn around your neck or over your shoulders! You will learn how to work in the round, knit cables with eyelets, work twisted stitches and finish your piece.
